HOW TO TAKE PART

From wallet to auction,
step by step.

Everything you need to bid in the opening auction and receive your CHTA. It takes about fifteen minutes the first time. Read the risks before you put money in.

  1. 01

    Install a Solana wallet

Phantom, Solflare or Backpack, as a browser extension or phone app. Write the recovery phrase on paper and keep it offline. The CHTA you win is delivered to the wallet that bid, so an exchange account cannot bid for you.

  2. 02

Add a little SOL for network fees

Every action is a Solana transaction. Creating your bid account costs about 0.003–0.005 SOL once; each later action costs a fraction of a cent. About 0.02 SOL is plenty. Charta itself charges no fee on bids.

  3. 03

    Get USDC on Solana

Buy USDC on an exchange and withdraw it to your wallet address on the Solana network. USDC sent over Ethereum or another chain will not arrive in a Solana wallet.

  4. 04

    Check the official addresses

The Live data page shows the program address it reads from. Compare it with the address published in the GitHub repository ↗.

  5. 05

    Place your bid

On the Auction page, connect your wallet, then enter how many CHTA you want (at most 250,000) and the highest price you would pay (at least 0.0002 USDC, in steps of 0.00001). Amount × maximum price is locked in the auction's escrow until the end.

  6. 06

    Watch, change or cancel

All bids are public and the estimated clearing price updates live. You can cancel and bid again at any time until 5 minutes before the end; after that nothing can change. Cancelling returns your locked USDC at once.

  7. 07

    Claim after the auction

Once the auction is finalized, press Claim my CHTA. In one transaction you receive your CHTA and the unused part of your locked USDC. Your claim stays open; there is no deadline.

  8. 08

    Afterwards: an open market

Trading moves to a public Solana order book. Its address is shown on the Live data page when it is bound to the program. Check it there, not in a link someone sends you.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

You bid 100,000 CHTA at up to 0.0003 USDC

30 USDC is locked (100,000 × 0.0003). What happens next depends only on the clearing price:

Clearing price 0.00025
You get 100,000 CHTA for 25 USDC; 5 USDC comes back.
Fewer than 5M CHTA bid in total
Everyone pays the minimum: 20 USDC; 10 USDC comes back.
Clearing price exactly 0.0003
You share the last part of the offer pro rata with the other bids at 0.0003 and pay 0.0003 for what you get; the rest comes back.
Clearing price 0.0004
Your bid is below it: you get no CHTA and all 30 USDC come back.

Everyone who wins pays the same clearing price, whatever maximum they entered. Bidding your true maximum is the simplest strategy.

Questions

Is there a minimum amount?

No minimum quantity beyond 1 CHTA. At the minimum price, 100,000 CHTA cost 20 USDC.

Can I use several wallets?

The 250,000 CHTA limit applies per wallet; the program cannot tell people apart. The limit is there to spread the launch widely, and all bids are public.

What if the auction is paused?

While the administrator has paused the program, new bids are refused. Locked funds stay in the auction escrow and the rules for claiming do not change. Any pause is visible on the Live data page.

Is the bid account fee refunded?

No. The small SOL deposit for your bid account stays with that account; it is a network cost, not a payment to Charta.

Where can I verify all of this?

In the program source on GitHub (auction.rs), in the experiment rules and live on the chain through any Solana block explorer.
